As the sixth child of eight, Andi Flamenco has long known the help mothers in her family need with their children. As a child free woman, she looks to continue to support others through being part of their support team. Seeing staff not abide by parents’ wishes with family members and friends, Andi became adamant of advocating for pregnant people and their families during the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.
She has worked with children of all ages since she was 10 years old. As a young aunt she assumed the role of babysitter quite early and soon became comfortable around children and their parents. Her first official job as a lifeguard confirmed her love for helping and providing safe environments for others. Once an adult she became not only a nanny but a swim instructor to young children and found fulfillment in interacting with both child and parent as an educator. She has since taken on Doula services as a way to help parents find proper resources they need in each stage of parenthood.
Although a Virginia native, Andi is a first generation American to Salvadoran parents. She has seen the lack of education in minority groups and hopes to bring fair and proper birth support for them and their families. As a dedicated and passionate woman, Andi hopes to be a beacon of support and courage for those giving birth in any way they choose.
