Brittany is a National Black Doula Association and Birth Becomes Her trained birth doula and photographer. She is a native of the DMV area and currently resides in Arlington, Virginia.
Her journey into the birth field officially began a couple of years ago, but she has always had an interest in the nurturing, development and relationships of both parents and babies. Brittany’s expertise in the field comes from not only her training, but from her previous roles as a nanny and preschool teacher.
Witnessing the births of her cousin’s daughters and assisting with the care of her best friend’s pregnancy helped Brittany realize how necessary it is to have a support system. As a doula, Brittany believes that every birthing person should have the opportunity to feel empowered in a judgement-free space. She encourages her clients to name what they need, establish boundaries and to ask many questions. As a birth, newborn and lifestyle photographer, she feels blessed to capture the special moments that only occur once in a lifetime.
In her spare time, Brittany enjoys going on adventures to discover new restaurants with her boyfriend, caring for her 40+ plant babies, advocating for mental health awareness, supporting small/minority-owned businesses and taking unexpected afternoon naps a.k.a. leaning into self-care.
